The Problem with Traditional Surfaces
Most commonly used surfacing options are not designed to manage water effectively. Block paving allows water to run off into surrounding areas, often leading to pooling and drainage issues. Tarmac and concrete are fully impermeable, forcing water into already overburdened drainage systems. Many “resin” installations are resin bonded, meaning they look similar but do not allow water to pass through the surface. As drainage regulations become more important in modern construction, these solutions are increasingly unsuitable.
Not All Resin Surfaces Are the Same
StormPave™ is a permeable resin bound system, which is fundamentally different from resin bonded or epoxy-coated surfaces. Resin bonded systems are applied onto a solid base and do not allow water to pass through, meaning surface water still runs off into surrounding areas. StormPave™, by contrast, is designed to allow water to pass through the surface and into the ground below, making it a more effective solution for managing drainage at source.
How the StormPave™ System Works
Permeable resin bound surface layer
StormPave™ is designed as a fully permeable system, allowing water to pass through the surface and into the ground below. Unlike traditional paving, the system combines a resin bound surface with an engineered sub-base that enables natural drainage at source.
Open-graded aggregate base (Type 3 / #57 equivalent)
A structural layer of interlocking stone that maintains load-bearing strength while providing high porosity.
Natural ground for water infiltration
This layered system allows StormPave™ to deliver both structural strength and effective water management in one integrated solution.
